UK Pop Idol goes Elton
Monday, November 3 2003 |
The second series of the UK Pop Idol TV series has now reached the Finals stage, with the chosen singers gradually being reduced down to find the overall 'Pop Idol'.
Each week the contestants are given a theme, from which they each have to sing a song. For instance, this week they had to sing a song from the year in which they were born.
For the next edition, to be broadcast on ITV1 November 8, 2003, the remaining eight contestants are all required to sing Elton John songs.
One of the contestants, Chris, is an avowed Elton fan, and sang 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' two weeks ago, when the theme was the contestants own pop idols.
The songs of Elton John have already featured quite heavily in 'Pop Idol', 'Fame Acadamy', and their various overseas equivalents. Despite this, Elton has been a fairly outspoken critic of the format.
